Dr. Kalyan Gangwal has taught undergraduate and postgraduate students of medicine for the last 40 years. He has treated provided patients from urban, rural and tribal areas of Maharashtra for last 45 years. Various lifestyle diseases are caused due incorrect dietary habits and addiction. He has extensively worked in the field of Preventive and Social Medicine by promoting Vegetarianism and Deaddiction and preventing such diseases. He has worked for Animal Welfare and Animal Rights by campaigning against bullock cart races, animal races and animal sacrifices at places of worship. He has promoted Jain Lifestyle which is recognized all over the world for its principles of Nonviolence. He has done extensive research is this field and various publications. Thus Dr. Kalyan Gangwal has significantly contributed to Medical, Social and Mental wellbeing of the people.

Dr. Kalyan Gangwal a Competent Physician, Selfless Worker, Social Thinker and Practicing Philosopher. Dr. Kalyan Gangwal is an MD General Medicine. He holds the unique honor of topping the list of MBBS Exam Poona University, bagging 23 prizes out of 27. He won the Gold Medal in Medicine and Surgery. He was the best outgoing student of B.J. Medical College, 1968.
This performance was repeated again at the MD Exam. He stood first, winning another Gold Medal from Poona University, He was also the recipient of Phizer Gold Medal, Atur Foundation Medal and Post Graduate Medical Award.
He is honorary Consulting Physician at the KEM Hospital, Pune and Poona Hospital. He also works as an Honorary Associate Professor at the B.J. Medical and Sassoon General Hospital, Pune.
He has had an excellent and outstanding academic career, Being a doctor and coming from very humble and poor background. Dr. Kalyan Gangwal has had a very noble and holistic attitude towards society. In his young days as a doctor he worked relentlessly during the famine of 1972. Even today he has dedicated the first Sunday of every month towards conducting free medical camps in tne Adivasi areas of Akola near his native place of Sangamner. He has been continuing this activity very religiously for tne last 40 years, as he has witnessed the pain and suffering of these tribal people since the time, he was young.

Dr. Kalyan Gangwals greatest passion is deaddiction. He is the pioneer of 'Anti Gutkha Movement’ in India. His untiring efforts have compelled government to ban the sale of gutkha. He has also convinced the legislators to ban the sale of Tobacco products near school premises.
Dr. Kayan Gangwal being a Jain by Religion is a staunch believer of Ahimsa and Vegetarianism. Out of his busy schedule as a medical practitioner, he has dedicated every Saturday and Sunday towards propagation of these principles.
He has been listed in Golden Book of Records 2018 for motivating nearly 1 lakh people to ‘pledge for vegetarianism at a single event in Jangli Maharaj Ashram, Maharashtra. He is actively involved in the setting up of Karuna Clubs in schools and across the country. The main aim of the clubs is to imbibe upon children the importance of nonviolence and compassion from a young age. He strongly believes that the children and youth of today, i1 proper guided will rise to a peaceful and NonViolent India tomorrow.
Dr. Kalyan Gangwal has also relentlessly worked for Animal Welfare and Animal Rights. He has been instrumental in banning of animal sacrifices at temples and places of worship in Maharashtra. He led the campaign to ban animal races such as Bullock Cart Races and Dog Races in Maharasntra. During Makar Sankranti, he along with his volunteers provide medical care to Birds who are injured by the glass coated thread Manja used for Kite Flying.
During Covid Pandemic, he has provided free medical treatment by teleconsultation and in person, free of cost to a number of patients. He and his volunteers also have arranged food, shelter and medical treatment to animals during this period.
Dr. Kalyan Gangwal is an author of numerous books on vegetarianism and deaddiction printed in multiple languages. He consistently writes articles in Indian and International print media, inspiring people to adopt a holistic way of life. Dr. Kalyan Gangwal has created an exhibition of more 250 posters on Vegetarianism and Deaddiction. His exhibition is displayed numerous times all over the country.
Dr. Kalyan Gangwal !s a recipient of various international, national and local awards for his work and contribution to society.

Contribution to Society

Dr. Kalyan Gangwal has significantly contributed to upliftment of the society by propagating the principles of Non Violence , Vegetarianism and De addiction. Today non vegetarian Food is considered is considered to be one of the major causes for Global warming. A vegetarian diet is considered to reduce global warming and climate change. So, his work in the field of vegetarianism and non violence has significantly benefitted the environment. Dr. Kalyan Gangwals work in de addiction has convinced the legislators to ban Gutkha. His voluntary medical work has helped to cure medical ailments in the rural and tribal areas of Maharashtra.
